Roast Dinner at Star & Garter

Star & Garter is an award-winning gastro pub in the heart of Falmouth. It sits within the Artisan Corner of the town, overlooking the harbour. Here you can watch marine life come and go; from fishing boats, to yachts, to cruise ships.

Visitors praise Star & Garter for the quality of their meat and the flavoursome gravy. We urge everyone to try their incredible sticky toffee pudding, which comes with caramelized banana and Cornish clotted cream…

Falmouth is a pretty unique place to spend a week exploring. The maritime town has the world’s third deepest harbour. At the National Maritime Museum, you can go below sea level and view life under the sea up close. The town is also a vibrant location for culture, cuisine and art. Sunday Lunch at The Mariners

Hopping over to the North Coast, Paul Ainsworth’s pub is a tempting choice for those visiting Polzeath, Rock, or, just a ten-minute ferry ride across the estuary away, Padstow. A classic roast at The Old Coastguard

The Old Coastguard in Mousehole has built a reputation for ‘simple things done well’. The chefs use the best local ingredients to create their a classic menu. Their beef topside comes with all the trimmings – from crispy potatoes to glazed carrots, and with the day boats of Newlyn tying up just outside, you’d be right in thinking there’s always a fresh fish stew or seafood option on the menu too.

The views of St Clements Isle, a small islet off the harbour, are beautiful and sometimes home to visiting seals. The friendly staff seem to really enjoy working here, and the great menu and welcoming atmosphere keep visitors coming back. We have some gorgeous homes in Mousehole, perfect for smaller groups and couples.

Dylan Thomas described Mousehole as “the loveliest village in Cornwall”; there are cute-as-a-button cream tea rooms and a sheltered harbour with bobbing boats. But there’s also rugged landscapes and fierce waves the further towards Lands End you travel. If you’re visiting Mousehole as a couple, the best place to stay is Gull Cottage. Perched on the water’s edge with ocean views and immaculate interiors, it’s just a ten minute walk away from The Old Coastguard… that’s Sunday sorted!

Low and slow beef at The Longstore

It’s not often you get to dine so close to the shoreline. At The Longstore, you can tuck into their signature dishes whilst overlooking Charlestown harbour. With soft lighting, a crackling log burner and quality ingredients, Sunday roast at The Longstore is a wholesome experience; especially in the depths of a Cornish winter. The low and slow beef with roasted root veggies are our top choice.

Charlestown, famous for its Poldark harbour scenes, showcases tall ships and Grade II-listed buildings. Once a hub for transporting copper, it now draws summer visitors curious about Cornwall’s history. You can view our Gems in and around Charlestown here.
