Last year we were blown away by the response to our fabulous photo campaign where we asked you to share with us your favourite places in Cornwall, and why they mean so much to you, so this year we want to do it again! By doing so, you’ll be automatically entered in our competition to WIN A £500 CORNISH GEMS HOLIDAY VOUCHER! Read on to find out more…
2023 Winner…
“My entry is Carbis Bay, especially evenings on the beach. We first came 12 years ago after my son was in rehabilitation from a deadly brain infection (Encephalitis) when he was 6 years of age. He was paralysed fully for 12 weeks, and no prognosis. His rehabilitation took years, and I’m convinced the healing Carbis Bay added to his recovery. Sometimes twice a year we came here and he loved it, and at 18 he still does. This picture means to me embracing nature in all its glory and everything good it has to offer.”
We were all a little teary eyed with the winner of last year’s #WhereWeGo campaign, chosen by the Cornish Gems team at one of our wonderful team wellbeing days by the sea.
Where We Go…
We launched with a video of the owners of Cornish Gems, Nadia and Tom, sharing their love for Porthgwarra, a sweet village and small cove in the civil Parish of St Levan, where you can stop at the cafe along the coastal path between Porthcurno and Land’s End. We also shared the stories of our partners Tor at Cornish Food Box and Kate at Cornish Explorers, both local people who contribute to the Cornish Gems experience, as well as our fabulous ESG Manager, Emma Fashokun. “Cornwall has always held a special place in my heart, especially along the coast of Treyarnon Bay. Growing up with little money, it meant everything to my family having a little slice of paradise within the UK. I learnt to swim, saw my first seal, and fell in love with Cornish ice cream. We haven’t been much as I have grown older but we saved up and treated my mum for her 50th to a Cornish getaway last year. Words cannot describe how significant Cornwall was to our family. I don’t think I could ever do it justice.”

“We live in Berkshire but love Newquay and Fistral. Here’s a sunrise from the end of last year over the town from the Hedland. After a particularly difficult year last year losing my father in law suddenly, our trip to Newquay, after our first Christmas Day without him, reset us and reminded us why shared time together in a place we all cherish is so valuable. Watching the sun rise, taking a moment to reflect, with a beautiful view filling our eyes couldn’t help but lift our mood and help us look forward with renewed vigour.”
