Where We Go: Our Winning Photograph!
We have been blown away by the response to our photo campaign, where we asked you to share with us your favourite places in Cornwall. A huge thank you to everyone who entered the competition with hashtag#WhereWeGo over the summer months. We adored all of your beautiful stories and images, which has made it very hard to choose a winner!
But, we are thrilled to announce that this year’s winner is Emma, with her incredible image from our property Meadow’s Nest, from which she was lucky enough to witness the Northern Lights! Along with her entry, Emma’s husband wrote a song, called The Magic In The Skies, to sum up their holiday experience and personal story. Thank you Emma for sharing this wonderful moment, and for giving us permission to share it with you, we are honoured.
Unfortunately just under two years ago at the age of 46 I was diagnosed with incurable breast cancer which as you can imagine is anyone’s worse nightmare and so psychologically challenging to deal with. My Husband, Dogs and I deal with things best when we are on holiday, living in our own bubble away from reality!
Our favourite place is Meadows Nest where we stayed in May 2024, we saw the Northern lights from the beautiful garden, it was magical! The day after we visited Holywell bay and managed to reach the well at low tide, this is as equally a special place for us.
During this time I was waiting for scan results to determine if my cancer was stable which is such an anxious time (I was stable and have my next scan in September).
My husband wrote a song (some of which is copied below) which sums up our feelings of our holiday in Cornwall 😊 We’d love to hopefully return one day soon.
✨ Magic in the Skies ✨
Tonight the Northern lights
Are dancing ‘cross the skies
A one off beauty, before our eyes
We all wish for something,
And we’ll drink from the well
Praying the holy water,
Will cast a little spell.
So forget about the
what ifs and the whys
Raise your head and look up
To see, the magic in the skies.
Raise your head and look up
To see, the magic in the skies.
…in the skies.
