A beautifully designed retreat ideally located for foodies, walkers and sailing enthusiasts seeking a soul-nourishing detox from city life

  • Set within the historical town of Fowey, in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Porth Vu is a stylish duplex apartment overlooking the Fowey Estuary, perfectly located for rejuvenating staycations away from the city.
  • The impeccably appointed open-plan kitchen, dining and living area boasts tri-fold doors that open wide to connect the interior space with the sights and sounds of life by the water.
  • Featuring three refined bedrooms, each with ensuite bathrooms.
  • Just a stone’s throw from Fowey’s exceptional food scene, explore the town's renowned eateries, such as the award-winning North Street Kitchen and Charlie Walter’s Narla. The majority of Fowey’s eateries are dog-friendly.
  • Porth Vu offers a first-rate base for those looking for an active escape. Leave your car behind in the apartment’s designated parking space - a rarity for Fowey town - and set off on numerous scenic walks, from leisurely strolls around the town to cliff-top hikes.
  • Porth Vu comes with a mooring for boats (up to 6 meters) included in the tariff. The mooring buoy is in the Polruan North Pool and visible from the apartment. It’s the perfect launchpad from which to navigate the calmer south coast waters. Contact our Guest Experience team on 01872 241241 (option 1) to enquire.

What a lovely property, and in a great location too! The great use of space with the bi-fold doors help bring the outside in - we loved this! Short walk away from gorgeous restaurants if you tire from the beautiful views from the living area (if anyone could!) We will definitely be booking again.

Step Inside

Porth Vu is a luxury duplex apartment located on the first floor of Cobbs Wells House, a large once-period home flawlessly transformed into contemporary first-class apartments. You enter the apartment to the hallway, off which are the first two chicly pared-back bedrooms, both with private ensuites. The hallway opens out to the open-plan living space where you step down into a thoughtfully designed George Robinson kitchen and informal dining area, making it the ideal place to bring exquisite food into your holiday home with a private chef, bookable via your guest account. A large, inviting corner sofa completes the living space, positioned to enjoy the spectacular view down to the river as you relax at the end of a cathartically active day. Ascend the stairs above the kitchen to the refined third bedroom and its ensuite shower room, as well as an elegant light-filled mezzanine seating area, built for morning coffees and conversation.

On Your Doorstep

Porth Vu is really well situated, so there’s no need to use your car during your stay. With Fowey’s variety of renowned restaurants, the ample number of local walks and opportunity to take to the south coast waters, you can park your car on arrival and not move it again until bidding Fowey farewell.

A range of popular, celebrated and award winning eateries are all well within walking distance of your holiday doorstep. Stop into historic Fowey’s oldest pub, the Ship Inn, for a crab sandwich that comes very highly recommended by Porth Vu’s owner. The King of Prussia, meanwhile, is highly recommended by our own team for its harbourside views and traditional British cuisine expertly infused with a modern twist. If you’re heading north along the river, Charlie Walters’ sustainability-minded Narla excitingly elevates familiar flavours, while North Street Kitchen offers award-winning seafood-based sharing platters from its converted boatshed location. Wandering south along Fowey’s famous Esplanade - the main thoroughfare from the town centre to the charming Readymoney Cove beach - Pintxo tapas bar is an excellent pitstop to sample superb imported Spanish food, sherries and wines.

From leisurely strolls around Fowey and its independent shops and galleries, to circular walks and beautiful stretches of the South West Coast Path, Fowey Estuary is a prime location for walkers. The popular 4-mile circular Hall Walk takes in Polruan village, woodland, Pont Pill creek, two ferry rides and Daphne du Maurier’s former family home. You can also head off on the Gribbin Head Walk - similarly a 4-mile circular walk - from Readymoney Cove, taking you to the secluded beaches, coves and woodland of Du Maurier’s Rebecca. For avid hikers, join the South West Coast Path and trek south to Polkerris beach, Carlyon Bay and Charlestown. Heading north along the path takes you to Polperro and Looe via Lantic Bay and Lansallos beach. For the truly ambitious hikers (and cyclists), there’s the Saints' Way; a 30-mile footpath between Fowey and Padstow linking many of the holy places associated with the Celtic saints.

The natural deep-water estuary and the calmer Cornish south coast waters make Fowey a mecca for sailing enthusiasts and yachtsmen. The annual Fowey Royal Regatta is one of Britain's premier sailing events and a fun-filled week for all the family. Try your own hand at sailing with courses and private sessions at Fowey Gallants Sailing Club, or take to the water on paddleboards and kayaks hired from Fowey River Hire. Join sailors from around the world making a welcome stopover at Fowey with Porth Vu’s own mooring for boats (up to 6 meters) included in the tariff - contact our Guest Experience team on 01872 241241, option 1, for more details.

For those visiting in the build-up to the yuletide season, Fowey’s annual mid-November Christmas market is one of Cornwall’s most magical festive events. Showcasing original gifts by independent artisans and locally made produce that you won’t find on the high street, experience the sights, sounds and aromas of Cornish Christmas cheer.
